WTF?

[Theme music: Tank! by the Seatbelts from Cowboy Bebop]

God, since I'm a good lil' skeptic, I'll come out and say this in a straightforward manner. Why is it still bloody snowing in April?

That's all.

Yeah, still snowing today. It was mad going home after school. Good thing I didn't plan to go out today. Just a quiet night at home watching movies and reading Smallville slash. Yummm...Smallville slash. Me like Smallville slash. ^_^

In other news, my friend, Britt, has gotten herself a...deadjournal. Don't ask, just visit. She's mad about LotR and Frodo. Literally and figuratively. =P

School's having the dance show this year. Apparently, it's fantastic. I'm not going. Too many hip hop sets. *sigh* I'm hoping that a classmate of mine will do a punk set next year. I want to do a "rave" set with electronica music and choregraphed glowsticks in the dark with some dancing. However, since I can't dance (I can only jump around), idea will have to be abandoned.

Watching Saiyuki today. Mmmm...yaoi subtext. Oh, and the plot. Oh yeah. So important. ^_^ No, honestly, I like Saiyuki for the plot. Except I like the manga so much better. Minekura Kazuya's art style is much more pleasing to the eye than the anime style. I dislike the anime, too many cheesy lines and the animation is crap at times. However, it's good enough.

Hmmm...have sudden craving for HoroRen. I wonder if it has anything to do w/ Ruaki's recent blogs about Horo as Dante? Definitely. =P

Horo aside, Dante is fucking hot. He is the single most attractive character in all of game fandom, surpassing even Zax and Sephiroth. Yes. Dante is that hot. He's cool, he's practically destruction incarnate, he has two guns which he will take out at the same time and shoot stuff with, has silver hair and wears a red trenchcoat. Oh, and he's half-demon. I don't need anymore reasons to drool over him. And this is not in some hidden hope to slash him. Anyone who has played Devil May Cry will understand. Anyone who has seen Dante will understand. Oh, and the name.

Okay, will stop raving about Dante. But he's hot. And cool.

Must satisfy craving for Smallville slash and Saiyuki yaoi. ^_^

April Fool's Day...

[rantage]

Since April 1 was taken up by vacation, I finally got April Fool's joke today, on the 2nd. In fact, there were several.

The infamous fake "Manga-ka are disapproving of fanworks and cracking down" article that sent the Slayers MLs into a slightly panicked mess because the girl who sent it from the Shoujo Manga List was fluff-brained and paranoid. I'm on the SML and I got that message too but someone replied five seconds later that it was an April Fool's Joke (that someone saw right through it) and she went through with it and sent it to the Slayers lists!

Sure, even I wasn't 100% positive it was a joke, but don't panic or worry ppl for nothing when you have doubts it's a fucking April Fool's joke. If you think about it logically, manga-ka would not ban fanworks like doujinshi, fanfiction, fanart, etc., especially Naoko Takeuchi and Sugisaki Yukiru who were both doujin-ka before becoming established, professional manga-ka. I'd doubt they'd be that hypocritical and suicidal to slit their own throats economically. People believed her of course, as people were meant to, but if someone said it was an April Fool's Joke you obviously don't send it to other lists to panic them.

The GIA is closing. I didn't believe them. Then it turned out to be real. *sigh* I'm sad that they're closing b/c they can't pay for the server (they were even in debt a few times) but couldn't they have done it on another day that wasn't April 1? People laugh and go on and send emails to them about how funny hahahaha, but then they say it honestly is true. And then they're offended. Sure, they're discourteous by not believing you. Mightn't you think that has something to do with the fact you posted this on April Fool's Day? Do it the next day. Or the day before.

Don't make important announcements on April Fool's Day, especially on the internet and if you had a history of playing April Fool's jokes. You have a high chance of not being believed.

[/rantage]

Think I need to go and take a break. Throat's getting sore again.

I Am Bill Gates. Bow Before Me, Mortals!

[Theme Music: Ex-Boyfriend by Crystal Kay and Verbal]

Yes, title meant as lame April Fool's joke. Also, long-standing Bill Gates as demon joke. Either way I don't think you'll laugh. Ha. Just call it madness.

That aside, I read a Fuuma-uke fic. AU, but Fuuma-uke. With Kamui as seme. (Keller's going to freak again! ^_^)That's like...Nakago being uke. Then again, I dislike FY, so scratch that. It's like Seishirou being uke with Subaru as seme. Admittedly, I always root for versatility in relationships-

Chibi!Lestat: Is that what you call it? *leer*

What do you want me to call it? Switchable Seme-Uke Roles? SSUR? Topping from bottom? Bottoming from top? I digress. Sometimes someone is undoubtedly a seme or and uke in a certain relationship and they have a tendency to stick in my mind as such. Such characters like Kamui with Fuuma, Subaru with Seishirou, Nagi with Crawford, and Takumi with...anyone all seem to me to be ukes with their respective partners and don't appeal enough to my "switch sense" to become seme. It doesn't always mean characters always stuck in the position of uke or seme just because I perceive them to be so in one relationship. Subaru is seme with Kamui as uke (the S/S and F/K shipper in me protests, though not much), Nagi is often seme with Omi, Takumi is...seme with...Ryousuke as in my last post. Then again, it's a matter of personal taste.

Fuck, gotta write commentary. So DEAD!!!

Did I drink too much???

[Theme music: American Psycho by Treble Charger]

I feel like angry music today. Angry, but pointed, punky music.

Ugh. I feel like I drank too much. Except I didn't drink. I have been gulping mainly water (tasteless, don't give a shit about "liquid of life" crap, it's TASTELESS!) I've got a headache like squeezing my temples, not in that good way that you get in facials, but kind of that mini-hammers pounding in rhythm unpleasantly. Add throat that gets dry and sore when I don't talk or drink something. I also can't breathe very well.

A note to certain people on the internet: breath is a noun. You utilize in a sentence like this: "He took a breath." Breathe is a verb. You use it like this: "I can't breathe." Please take note of that when you write. Thank you. ^_^

I hate getting sick. I'm also getting a cold. I'm also getting bitchy. Very bitchy.

Generally, I'm in a bad mood. Dislike bad moods as melancholy thoughts descend like Harpies and tear my psyche apart with something akin to despair. Then again...the same could be said for mental torture. However, bad mood does not count as mental torture. So will cross off colourful description involving Harpies.

I watched the F1 for the first time in my life. It was Round 3 in Brazil; exciting except that I never realized how car races need a lot of laps. 71 for this one and Michael Schumacher won, with his younger brother (poor guy, always coming in second to his bro) Ralf in second, and Coulthard in 3rd. Montoya's wing got ripped off in the 'S' curve within the first few minutes of the race and Barrichello actually was the leader for a few laps until the car sputtered and slowed down, rolling off course. Such an anti-climax when he was leading Michael Schumacher! The best part was when the Schumacher brothers were battling for first place. Bloody brilliant race! Can't wait for the next few. I want to go to Montreal for the June 9th race, but exams will have a death grip on me.

The Schumacher brothers remind of the Takahashi kyoudai from IniD.

*lengthy pause*

I need sleep. And less IniD yaoi fic/doujinshi. *plops into bed and falls asleep*

*pops back up* I found out that there's Ryousuke-uke doujinshi. *hysterical laughter* With Takumi as seme. Shocking but pleasant fact (I'm all for equality in relationships. I'm sick of fixed seme-uke roles! [I'll admit it, the fangirl in me wants to see the uke jump the seme...]) that I plan to tell Keller in order to hear her screams. I know she'll freak out like when I mention Yohji/Ken. (I just have to say the word!) ^____^

Wonky!!!

[Theme music: Life by Our Lady Peace]

Yeah, I'm kind of better. Can't concentrate very well, hand to eye co-ordination is really put off (my typing is horrific for some frightening reason), my voice is hoarse, my throat is sore, my head is tender on the inside and I have a feeling that I'm not quite here. Still weak, I guess. I feel wonky and out of sorts.

Just finished watching K-PAX. V.g. movie. Indescribible, honestly, but I really liked it. Kevin Spacey was excellent in portraying in the character of Prot and Jeff Bridges was pretty good at playing the psychologist, Powell. However, it was almost too typical with the "troubled family" background of Powell. And he "accidentally" has a brother-in-law who's an astrophysicist. Wow. Still, excellent movie worth renting.

Caught a few minutes of The Naked Chef. Is it just me, or do British chefs on television really like using lemons in their dishes? Jamie Oliver does it all the time, as does Nigella Lawson and it puzzles me to no end the dishes that both of them will put lemons in. Perhaps they have some sort of fascination with citrus or...they know something about lemons us North Americans don't?

I think I'll go to sleep now. More convalescence is demanded from my aunt. Passing out sounds like a good idea. ^_^

*mumble*

[rant] I'm sick. I'm so sick I can't even walk without tremblling or my head whirling around and the only thing I can do with serious effort is sleeping, even when I'm not sleepy. It just so happened I got sick on Thursday morning and was so sick that my body rejected my meagre breakfast and lunch. The thing that sucks the most is that I had plans for hanging out w/ some friends I haven't seen in a long time and I had to cancel both of them, ISA and a movie. I'm pissed, but I'm just too weak to be angry at all. I missed 3 of my 4 classes, which was incredibly bad. At least it's the Easter break, so I didn't miss any classes today, but on Sunday, I have to go to my math tutoring lesson to learn double angles (something which I missed on Thursday) and I have a feeling I might be collapsing on the street. I'm weak-headed and I can barely walk around. I think I'll go and pass out again. [/rant]

Another quickie blog. moonless night has some pretty...interesting Harry Potter illustrations. I'd like to think of them as a cross between Harry Potter and DiGi Charat, quite frankly. Kinda eerie in a way too since it almost drowns you in cuteness.

*hysterical laughter*

[Theme music: KURU KURU by Sophia]

Hahahahahahahahahaha...check this out. Chapter 8 is a must-see. It doesn't just apply to Trigun, but for all fandoms. My especially favourite is #4. The mad grin on whoever is on the receiving end (Vash? Legato?) cracks me up like mad. The artist has exactly the same sentiments as many a tired, pissed off author who's tired of two-bit effort and many, many, many other things which I won't mention because I'll just end up ranting like an utter bitch.

But I will allow myself a small rant: SPELLCHECK! GRAMMER CHECK! LINES BETWEEN PARAGRAPHS! FOR FUCK'S SAKE, PLEASE!

*exhale* In other words, check your spelling and grammer before posting anywhere, please. And have a line between paragraphs. Indents are not enough by themselves and save readers the trouble of squinting. Thank you.

[ramble]

I've suddenly realized that I've developed quite a taste for cliched stories. I don't mean cheesy romances, but general plot lines (even for the most original-seeming fics) that can be predictable. I'm not accusing authors of being unoriginal, but sometimes, the expected thing will happen, even in a fresh, original story. What I mean is that certain expected actions will be written into certain fics (i.e., person falling in love, person dying, etc.), even though the author is as original as a spork, or a certain kind of fic will be written in an expected style (i.e., introspective, melancholy tone for a first person fic.) Like Agatha Christie wrote Hercule Poirot saying, "Man is an unoriginal animal." He was referring to murder, but it works for literature and almost everything about life as well.

What is truly original is when someone creates something new, and completely unexpected. For example, the "misunderstood villain who is secretly in inner turmoil" was probably not commonly used in literature before a certain time, but now, those types of characters abound in good or bad literature, like the reluctant hero, the aggressive heroine, the faithful companion turned traitor, the wise mentor who sacrifices himself/herself; I could go on forever. Oh, and the plot devices like the well known "Hero(ine)'s Journey", the love triangle (square, pentagon, hexagon, etc.), the love/hate relationship, the best-friend-turned-lover relationship and the eternal happy ending. It's innate in our nature to stick with the familiar, in spite of how much we profess to dislike the cliched. The "hero rescuing damsel in distress" is cliched, as is "good guy, bad guy", but eventually, "outwardly aggressive, sentimental at heart female", "socially inept, stoic hero" and the whole plethora of plot devices, characters and assorted writing related tools we use or read right now just might become cliched as well. And where will that leave us readers and writers?

Raburi!!!

[Theme music: If It Feels Good, Do It by Sloan]

AIIIIIYAAAAA!!! My Hana to Yume #7 and Ribon #4 came from HK!!!!! ^_____________^ Life's good! There's an offer for an Count Cain CD, I WANT IT!!! Gorgeous, gorgeous art I can drool over, but cannot get because offer is only available in Japan. *sigh* However, "Fruits Basket" is getting more interesting. Hehehe...hint of yaoi between Shigure and Akito. However, was slightly disconcerting when I remembered that they're related somehow, since Akito in all his yummy dastardliness is the clan head. o_O That aside, "Hana Kimi" is getting positively fantastic! Love the Sano kyoudai working together and winning thing. ^_^ So hard to choose between the brothers. Both are equally bishonen. "Never Give Up!" is also getting interesting. The angst is only beginning, my only question is what happened to Touya? What was the conversation between him and Kiri? I couldn't interpret it fully, since my Japanese is rudimentary. But "Skip Beat!" is getting really good and what I'm really looking forward to beside "Never Give Up!". I have a feeling that Kyoko is going to end up w/ someone...I'm hoping for Ren. Love/hate relationships are cliche but I love them. Never w/ Shou though; he's complete bastard and deserves a firm kick in the ass. Haven't read Ribon yet, will reserve for bedtime reading...should be reading "The Last Enchantment" by Mary Stewart, but Ribon takes precedence. ^___^

"Count Cain" is fucking amazing. Yuki Kaori is fucking amazing! Have suddenly developed need for Count Cain...want manga so badly. Cain is cool although he's a product of incest and rape and Riff is even cooler. Plenty of UST to keep me on the edge in Count Cain. UST is so satisfying sometimes; sounds strange, but UST is just so good b/c it keeps you on the edge for so long, but when it gets resolved, it's all worth it in the end. I know that probably Yuki-sensei will not develop a more intimate relationship betwen Cain and Riff, but it's still good.

Must finish writing commentary...bleargh. Ja!

GIMME AN IV, DAMNIT!

[Appropriate theme music: anything to keep me awake]

Fuckin' school. Why am I fucking here?

I need coffee. School sells coffee. Coffee is decaf. WTF????????????? I need an IV injection of real, caffeinated coffee or something to keep me awake. Have spare first, next media (spawn of the devil) then lunch, then English, equally crapshit, then Finite, which is bearable.

Hate today. Wish school was nonexistent.

Think I'm going to pass out from headache, hunger and lack of sleep now. Baibai. *thunk*

Chibi!Wolfwood: *pokes*

Chibi!Vash: *pokes*

*wakes up* Don't make me write a het Trigun fic. A really bad het Trigun fic. *glares*

Chibi!Wolfwood and Chibi!Vash: *grab onto each other*

Smart choice. V. smart. Now excuse me again while I go unconscious. *thunk*

Late Night...Or Early Morning?

[Theme Music: Bent by Matchbox Twenty]

Still randomly surfing the internet for something to interest me. Have been crying over fact that I can't order Akizuki Ryou's (Yubinbasya) gorgeous doujinshi because they're out of print. She does the most amazing FFVII art, specifically Zax x Cloud and I desperately long for a doujinshi of hers. Or two. Or all of them. I would do practically anything to get my hands on one or one small piece of her art in my hands. Her art is simply breath-taking; Cloud is not drawn ultra-childish (Thank God) and is v. bishounen; Zax is...I can't describe it, but he makes me drool. Damnit, I want an Akizuki Ryou doujinshi!!!

*lets out deep breath* I've finished wailing, it's ok now. On another note, I read a bloody brilliant Snape/Harry at...prepare yourself...ff.net. There are some rare gems of fics at ff.net and "The Mirror of Maybe" by Midnight Blue is definitely one of them. Sure, the title is...lacking somewhat in the attract-your-eye department, but otherwise, it's a lovely fic which I'll be following with great attention.

Also lazed about for the rest of the day. Yum...love languid weekend days. Will have another tomorrow, then go back to the dreaded grind of classes. *sigh* I'm preparing myself for the dreaded Media classes, in which a barrage of work will come and chop me to bits like Sephiroth's Masamune, in addition to my English SRA, which I haven't even picked a book for to read. Also, I've got other work from five other classes to do. Oh shit. I'm really screwed. And I've just realized that.

Excuse me while I go and have a nervous breakdown.

Quick Rantage

[Theme Music: Sleeping Child by Bonnie Pink]

Got woken up by the house alarm and incessant ringing of the doorbell. [sarcasm] Love the wailing of the alarm. Uh huh. Happy happy joy joy. [/sarcasm] My mum didn't unlock the manual lock when she went to work and my aunt, being the overly caring person she is, came at 9 to check up on me and my sister since we're sleep-past-noon kind of people on Saturday, we need taking care of. *sigh* I would like to be able to sleep past noon without being disturbed on just one day on this break.

Oversoul is temporarily taken down b/c some idiot accused them of copyright infringment for "the use of recording and live music". WTF? Oversoul's an AU based off of Shaman King (kickass manga and anime) about a band called Oversoul in fanfiction, fanart, and doujinshi. I suppose I could say the guy was taken in by the realism of it all, but honestly! He could have done a little bit of research and actually looked around on the site. And there's also a lot of bands out there with the name Oversoul, so why target something which isn't even a real band? To express my sentiments about this I will quote someone's sig "Only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not too sure about the first."

Crazy Sunshine ~~ NOT!!!

[Appropriate Theme Music: "Crazy Sunshine" and "I Think I Can" by The Pillows]

Windy day. It's meant to be spring, but Toronto's is a perpetual wind machine on the chill setting right now. Spring. Haha. Nice joke.

Just finished re-watching Billy Elliot...oh, still love that movie. Watched it w/ mum...am surprised she actually knew about/wanted to see Billy Elliot since my mum sticks to Chinese flicks and doesn't pay attention to English ones.

Still love it. Best flick I've watched in a long time, since I've mainly been submerged by crappy Hollywood shite for a few months now. Yes, Queen Of The Damned was shit, even though it had Stuart Townsend. However, Velvet Goldmine wasn't crap, it was rather good, but too dramatic and rich for my own tastes. Billy Elliot has a freshness to it that's somehow indescribable and although it's dramatic, it's not overly so.

Also, got suddenly inspired in the middle of Billy Elliot, during the Swan Lake music scene to write an original story set in modern times with a plot device from Swan Lake. I very much want to write this, so I'm going to start writing now...bye~

Uninteresting To A Fault

[Theme music: Instant Music by The Pillows from FLCL]

In an attempt to liven up my uninteresting day, I'm listening to Instant Music. The Pillows are good, they're funky rock and their music suits FLCL perfectly. I can just imagine their music videos w/ lots of bright colours and them w/ guitars, banging away like there's no tomorrow. However, I haven't watched any of their music videos so that's a moot point. If you don't know, FLCL is an anime by the famous Gainax (creators of Evangelion), a crazy tale of how a boy meets an alien and it proceeds from there on in a wacky, insane fashion. Hell, the development of the title is weird. FLCL is simply short for "fooly cooly" = "furi kuri" = "FLCL" which the production staff thought was cool.

Here is a list of the mediocre activities of today:

  • baked cake
  • made chocolate mousse
  • finished transfering files from old system to new (11789 customer records finally finished!)
  • got new CD player from Hong Kong, sent by cousin (high point of day)
  • discussed QaF US w/ Keller
  • d/l'ing The Pillows music
  • re-read parts of "Tokyo Crazy Paradise", excellent manga by Nakamura Yoshiki.

Uninteresting personified. Oh...and read RK yaoi fics. I was an avid reader of RK a while back, reading/finding only het then, but now...RK yaoi could work, I suppose. There's this lovely Kenshin/Aoshi doujinshi at YaoiBoys.Com, which I admire for the sheer contrast of the turmoil and intense emotions boiling beneath its serene, moonlit setting; done excellently in a clean and beautiful style. The doujin-ka expresses the mood very well even in black & white; in one picture, Kenshin has this glint of madness in his eyes you can see clearly. Even though it's calmly elegant, naughty things do happen. *dirty fangirl grin* Basically, it speaks quietly, but carries fairly large hammer. ^_^
